About

Welcome! I’m Jenny, and I’m a painter who loves to draw. I love colour – but also black and white. I love layers and history and texture and creating paintings with plenty of interest. I like nothing better than making paintings that others love too!
My work is mainly abstract, but may include elements of realism- mainly stylised or impressionistic flowers or vessels. A painting may include a beaker or a bowl – in which case this may be, as we are, transparent or opaque, decorative or a little misshapen!
My paintings tend to be many-layered, and I enjoy scratching through to show hints of colour from earlier layers. Removing paint is as much a part of the process as adding paint. We all have a history. My history is books; I was a librarian and bookseller for many years, before giving up paid work at the end of 2018 in order to concentrate on artistic pursuits.
Lets keep in touch!

" Just want to say how much I love my painting, gives me a feeling of home, very grateful"
" All of your paintings seem to me to have a substantial meaning in them: poems in a frame"
