Who doesn’t love bluebells? I’ve really enjoyed recent walks in the bluebell woods. Perhaps it’s because we missed a year with the pandemic, but they’ve seemed even more magical this year.
Now that we have lost the seasonal delights of many foods, perhaps the few short weeks to enjoy the bluebells is a reminder or the pleasure of anticipating something and then gorging on it – as we used to with strawberries before they were available all year round.
Until I drew them, I hadn’t noticed the little spikes at the base of some of the caps.
According to the National Trust website, the bluebell symbolises constancy, humility and gratitude. Rather what I feel when walking among them.
