The ubiquitous cow parsley deserves a second glance for its delicate flowers, and the butterflies that may be fluttering around it. My Grandmother used to call it by the rather more attractive name ‘Queen Anne’s Lace’.

It may not have lasted long, but we particularly enjoyed the apple blossom this year. The delicate flowers brought decoration to the garden, and were a welcome sight from the kitchen window.

How beautiful the garden looks after the rain. Every leaf and twig seems to be covered in tiny pearls. Crouching to draw, I watch these perfect little watery globes struggle against gravity, slowly change shape and eventually fall.
