What could be more lovely than the cherry blossom in the sunshine? We are lucky enough to have a cherry tree in the garden. Yesterday in the breeze the lawn was aswirl with blossom-petal confetti, but there is still plenty left to enjoy today.
It was a pleasure to stand under the tree and observe and draw this sprig: The old, knotty, lichen-covered branch; the mass of flower heads coming from a central point; the delicate stamens; the serrated leaves.
And we don’t have to travel as far as Japan to enjoy it.
