Pine cones have a feeling of Christmas for me. We have some gold-sprayed cones on the Christmas tree, and others in a bowl.
I’ve always loved the shape of pine cones, and the way they close up tight and open up to release their seeds.
Pine cones are fun to draw. I wanted to do a ‘scribble’ picture today rather than a very detailed drawing. I like the way the form of the subject emerges from the chaos. I was lucky enough to see Quentin Blake’s amazing scribble portraits in London earlier this year – they are worth looking up if you haven’t seen them.
Finally, may I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas. Thank you for following along with my Small Delights. I’ll try and be more regular with them next year!
