I was fascinated this morning by the worn flagstones in the nave of Salisbury Cathedral.
I found myself thinking of Shakespeare’s “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players…” and wondering about all the “players” who had trod those stones. The feet, scraped chairs, things dropped, bent knees and everything that has resulted in the patterns and textures, indentations, marks, cracks and grooves in these ancient stones.
