Does anyone else have a favourite pair of shoes or slippers which really should hit the bin, but always jump out again? These are mine.
They are well past their sell by date, but so easy to slip on in the house. I love the pointed toes and the intricate knot buttons. They also remind me of France, where I found them.
I now wear them for painting and splashes of white are adding to the aged effect. My paintings often have lots of layers and some of them look old and worn, so they seem appropriate.
I’ve learned to ignore the attention they draw from delivery drivers when I forget to take them off before answering the door.
