A simple drawing today. I was hacking away in the garden and filling the bin, then realised I really like this stem, so took it indoors. I don’t know what bush this is, but looking at this stem gives me a lot of pleasure.
The shape of the leaves are just so leaf shaped! If I sat down to draw a leaf out of my head, it would be this shape with its rounded base and pointed tip. I love the dark red stem, the shiny quality of the leaves, the way the leaves twist around the stem, and the tiny new leaves at the top like a baby’s hand.
